One Group Our Voice
We are a CP-Achieve Advisory Group of people with cerebral palsy who use AAC (alternative and augmentative communication).
People who use AAC are not often included in research, so our role is to educate researchers and others how to involve AAC users as consumer research partners and research participants. We meet every 3 weeks to work on our own projects and to meet with researchers and students who seek our advice on working with people who use AAC.
We are working on a toolkit of information and resources to share with researchers to support them in working with AAC users. We have submitted a journal article about why it is important to include AAC users and how to do so. We have also delivered a CP-Achieve webinar about our work.
If you are a person with CP who uses AAC and would like to get involved with us, or you are a researcher who would like to know more, please contact One Group Our Voice at cp-achieve@mcri.edu.au.
Our work is funded by a State Trustees Australia Foundation – Community Inclusion FY22 Grant.
